The Durham Showcase Festival is open to students who are residents in Durham Region or study with teachers in the Durham Region.
Durham Showcase Festival's mission is to provide a positive and encouraging performance environment. Pre-Grade 1 classes are non-competitive with all performers receiving a 1st place award. Students in Grades 1 - 5 will receive gold, silver or bronze placements. No marks are awarded, however a class winner is announced. Students Grades 6 and up will receive marks as well as gold, silver or bronze placements. Upon recommendation by the adjudicator, 2 students from each Grade will have the opportunity to proceed to the Provincial finals. If you think you or your student might be eligible to proceed to Provincials, please familiarize yourself with the OMFA rules and regulations. Students may enter selections as competitive or non-competitive. Please indicate on the entry form.
All events take place at Whitby Baptist Church SPECIAL FOR 2017: Christopher Norton Day on Friday April 7th! 9:30 - 11:30 am: Teacher Workshop featuring Keyboard Harmony, Improvisation, Composition and Ear Development. 1:00 - 3:00 pm: Master-Class with students performing works by Christopher Norton 4:00 - 6:00 pm: Non-competitive festival featuring pieces by Christopher Norton, adjudicated by Christopher Norton. Christopher Norton Day is open to ALL students, regardless of where they reside. Cost for Christopher Norton Day: Students: $20 Master-Class Entry, $15 Festival Entry. Teachers: $30 Teacher Workshop, $30 Master-Class or $50 for both sessions. At the door: $40/session or $75 for both. Auditors: $15 per session, payable at the door. Thursday, April 6, Violin in the morning, Vocal morning and afternoon. Saturday, April 8, Piano and Guitar all day.
